Oasis Center - Gunnislake - 2008 Update

As 2008 starts, changes are happening at the Oasis Centre. The centre’s energetic and well-liked coordinator Jane Uglow has taken a new job. Jane was the face and the heart of the centre, the person who greeted visitors and who organised the centre’s workshops and courses. We wish her happiness and success!

Help from Parish & District Council for Oasis Centre Gunnislake

Both the Calstock Parish Council and Caradon District Council are assisting the Calstock Development Trust with grants towards the running costs of the Oasis Centre , following failure to gain three year lottery funding for its core services.

Jane David & Jill went to the awards presentation at Truro on Thursday5 October 2006.

Calstock Develompment Trust were a finalist in the community projects category, and received a certificate.

Horticultural Enterprise

Calstock Trust has been awarded a grant to carry out a feasibility study into the potential of setting up a horticultural enterprise in the Tamar Valley.

At its height in the 1950s and 1960s the Tamar Valley market gardening industry employed 1,500 people, there are now only about 40 growers left in the Tamar Valley.
