The Oasis Centre is there to help people use computers, access the internet and look for jobs via the jobcentreplus website. On our window display and just inside the door we provide up to date information on jobs available locally.

We provide computer training (free of charge) with two volunteers giving one to one tuition. On Fridays we run a course to help people get started on the computer and learn to access the internet. On Wednesdays with Link into Learning people can study Maths and English, all the way up to GCSE level, and learn computer skills at the same time.

We have lots of different information available, from employment to self-employment to legal issues to Car Share. We help people to find information and assist with all sorts of little problems while providing a social place for a chat and a cuppa.

On the Tuesdays of February 17th and 24th we will be running Family History sessions and, if these prove popular, would like to continue these. Several internet sites will be used, including the popular ancestry.co.uk.

The Oasis Centre is purely run by volunteers, who all give their time freely to help others. We can always use more volunteers! if anyone is interested, please talk to Ottilia at the Centre. Prior knowledge or experience is not essential as we will help you to acquire any skills that are needed. Employers always look favourably on people who do voluntary work and it is also a good social opportunity.

Whether you want to increase your skills, look for a job, need information or simply would like someone to talk to, come into the Oasis Centre during our normal opening times and talk to any of our friendly volunteers!
