MORE TEENAGERS TO BENEFIT FROM LOCAL FOOD EXPERTISE IN GUNNISLAKE & PRINCETOWN
Following their recent successful workshops, Westden will be running two more groups of interactive local food workshops for young people aged 14 to 19. These will be held at the Delaware School, Gunnislake (8th, 22nd & 29th November 2007) and the Pavilions, Princetown (12th & 19th October & 26th November 2007).
“The young people will be preparing, cooking and tasting local food with the help of professionals from the local area. In this way we hope that they will become ‘food ambassadors’, sharing their experiences with their friends.” said workshop co-ordinator Diana Lee.
They will have the opportunity to meet and work with local chefs, including Matthew Carder of the Bedford Hotel and Felicity Sylvester as well as compiling a cookery survival guide for young people.
The events are being run by Westden to encourage young people to cook and eat more healthily using locally produced food and to support local producers and cut food miles. Westden secured funding from the Tamar AONB, Dartmoor SDF and the Local Network Fund to run these workshops.
Places will be limited and bookings are being taken now.
