STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS COURSE AT THE OASIS CENTRE GUNNISLAKE

Thanks to the awarding of a grant, The Oasis Centre in Gunnislake is running a new course.

Have you dreamed about running your own business?
How & Where do you start?
What type of business have you the skills to run?
Or you are concerned about how to combine working with running your home?
Or maybe you would like ideas about what you could do or where you could get advice and support.

Then this is the course for you!

This course, every Monday for six weeks aims to help you consider the question “A Business of Your Own?”.

The Oasis Centre has space for six participants on each course, which will meet on Monday from 9.30am to 3pm at the Centre, in Fore Street Gunnislake. Childcare expenses will be paid by the Centre, and lunch will be provided, catered for by local small businesses.

The first six-week session began on 17 October 2005. The next course is starting on the 23rd January 2006 and is now fully booked.

These courses have proved very popular and we are hoping to secure more funding to continue running this course next year, for booking & information ring 01822 834303.

Since 2003, and continuing today, Oasis offers training for basic computer skills, Clait and for the national skills test qualifications for adults in English and Maths. From the experience in those ongoing programs and assisting people job hunting, the centre discovered that lack of part-time employment and training opportunities locally is an important issue, so the Centre applied for a grant to address that need. Funding was approved only in early October, so everyone involved is excited! "This project is funded by the Rural Key Fund which is supported by the European Union."

Jane, the part-time coordinator, runs the Oasis Centre, with the help of a team of volunteers. The Centre is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm. For more information, or to offer help at the Centre, please contact Jane on 01822 834303.
